What is a zone?
Each business address needs at least one zone where the music will play. You need multiple zones to play music at different addresses or to play different playlists in a single location at the same time.
A zone is an area where the music is played and has a device. For example: a retail store will usually have one zone. A hotel might have 4 zones comprising: spa, gym, lobby and restaurant.
How often is the music updated?
SoSound’s playlists are updated on a monthly basis. For our Group and Boutique customers we personalise your updates to work with your schedules.
Explicit tracks?
We monitor all our playlists for explicit lyrics. So if you do not want swearing, there will be none. All our Refresh Playlists have no explicit lyrics.
Is it a streaming device?
No, our players do not stream. All the music is cached onboard, which is good if the internet goes down as the music keeps playing!
What’s the difference between the 2 players?
The SoSound touch screen has more functions. It allows you to:
- manually change the mood between multiple playlists
- see the track name
- skip tracks
The SoSound mini plays your playlists automatically according to your schedule, it has no touchscreen.

How does the music licensing work?
SoSound is a B2B music service licensed for commercial use in public spaces. SoSound reports to music licensing agencies to cover the reproduction (mechanical rights) license requirements and you the business pay the public performance license fees that are particular to your business type and size.
You need to pay a music license to your local Copyright Collecting Society (e.g. OneMusic in Australia and New Zealand, PRS-PPL in the UK, GEMA in Germany, SACEM in France, etc.). to broadcast background music in your business, even if you subscribe to a legal music service for business such as SoSound
End-user / online music streaming offerings, such as Spotify, Pandora, Deezer or Apple Music, are only licensed for personal use and are breaching copyright laws if used in a commercial setting.
Who pays the reproduction (mechanical rights) license?
The fee differs per country and SoSound itemises what the fee will be when we know where your business is located and the number of locations. The fee is in addition to the monthly music subscription and also paid monthly.

We input the details into your player so it can connect for your updates
